A journey of infertility & loss

If I wind the clock back 15 years Steve and I were setting off on a journey into parenthood and were very excited about our plans. I would simply stop taking the pill and pregnancy would surely follow within a few months. We were healthy, I was taking my folic acid and was eating as healthily as I could. I envisaged at least three children if not more, twins run in my family, so I had even allowed myself to imagine that exciting prospect. Whether it is your plans of giving birth, a parenting choice, a dream or ambition you hold… what these quotes remind us is that when we find something we believe in, that we feel passionate about, we need to surround ourselves with people who will help us towards our goals. Continue reading

Happy mother's day-1It’s Mother’s Day, and here at The Natal Family, we would like to wish ALL mums in the world a fantastic Mother’s Day!

Through our programmes we are very privileged to support expectant and new mums throughout their journey into parenthood (and dads too, but today it’s about the mums!)

One of the practices in our MummyNatal programme, is a kindness mediation – where we focus on the good things we wish for ourselves, our babies, our families and our births, rather than falling into the trap of spending our mental energy on the things we don’t want.

Oh you’re pregnant!? Has anyone asked you how YOU feel about it?

pregnancy testsExcited, happy, overjoyed, lucky, grateful, impatient, disappointed, in denial, worried, scared, uncertain, anxious, guilty, ‘pressurised’, worried that I can’t share this with anyone yet, alone, terrified, in shock, ashamed, apprehensive while I wait for my first  scan, sad, scared of being judged, unhappy that my body is going to change, that “I can’t yet enjoy it”…

These are only a few examples of the feelings and emotions that a few of us admitted experiencing in early pregnancy. Quite a mixed bag, right? And perhaps some words and phrases in there that you wouldn’t normally associate with pregnancy?
